Windy city

The day started off with strong thunderstorms and continued on with high winds all day. But in my sector, the storm really didn’t live up to the claims of being the biggest storm to hit the area in more than 70 years. In other parts of the Chicago metro area, there were tornadoes, wind damage, power outages, and weather-related injuries. Here on the northwest side of the city, though, this rather lame video was the best I could get: lots of wind noise, more than the usual amount of tree movement, and our Rottweiler swirly wind spinner actually spinning in the wind.

I must go down to the seas again

Although I do find a few things annoying about the new Hawaii 5-0, in general I’m liking it enough to keep watching it. Tonight’s episode took place mostly on the North Shore, and I am really missing the Pacific Ocean. Once again, I ask myself how I could move away from a place with an ocean and mountains, because those are things that are sadly lacking in the vast midwestern wasteland.

This is somewhere on the North Shore, winter 2002. Can’t wait for this year’s visit.

It is just as I feared

It was a lot easier to upgrade my camera than my photography skills. It is just as I feared. I will still end up with a frighteningly large number of dog butt photos as I go through the learning process.

And if I happen to be trying out sports mode (and don’t judge me for using the presets), I will end up with a frighteningly large number of nearly identical dog butt photos. In this test, there were nine. I won’t make you look at all of them.

   

Maybe I should make a flip book!
