I’m sure that everyone who’s ever blogged, even those of you who are now drowning in popularity and surrounded by millions of fans, is familiar with the imaginary echo. You know, the one of your own bloggy voice, when you feel like you’re just talking to yourself. Eventually you either find your people (sometimes a huge number of them and sometimes just a few), or get comfortable with the sound of your own voice, or more likely, a combination of both.
It’s still nice to get confirmation that someone is out there. So the efforts of these creative folks to bring a little more interaction to their corners of the ‘net is something I really appreciate and enjoy participating in.
I’ve been participating in the Mingle at Indigo’s That’s My Answer! for a few months now. Participants share comments every Thursday throughout the month: comment on three blogs within the group and return a visit from someone who has visited you. It’s a smallish group with a variety of blog topics. I’ve enjoyed “meeting” blogs and bloggers I might not otherwise have come across in my travels across the ‘net. Signup is ongoing, so check it out if you have the time.
This will be the first time I participate in IComLeavWe at Melissa’s Stirrup Queens. This project is in its third year, and now runs year-round. Participants can sign up from the first through the 21st of the month (so hurry up if you want to get in for this month). Each day for the week from the 21st through the 28th, comment on five blogs and return one comment, preferably blogs on the participant list. You can also participate as a blog reader even if you don’t have a blog of your own. I’m looking forward to this and hope at least a few people find my blog interesting enough to comment on, or at least read.
Melissa has also created a brand new blogger game: Blogger Bingo which is still open for signups until Sunday night. Go read about it, that link and this one, too… now can you even wait till Monday to start playing? Very excited for this to start!
So at least for the next week or two, I shouldn’t be just talking to myself. What about you?

I always assume I’m talking to myself, even when I pose questions to my “audience.” It helps my ego deal when no one comments on something I’ve said 🙂 Of course, I’m totally guilty of sticking to my Google Reader and not commenting on other people’s blogs as often as I should. I just hope the same thing is happening to others.

I can say for sure I am guilty of the same thing. I have a number of blogs that I keep up with faithfully, but that I don’t take the time to comment on often enough.

It’s always comforting to find our audience, to know that someone is actually taking the time to read what we’ve taken the time to write. And it’s awesome to get to read what’s going on in the blogosphere. Welcome to ICLW!

Thanks for stopping by! I say… and mean it… that I write mostly for myself, but even so, I am happy to see stats that say that someone is indeed out there, and even more happy to see comments now and then!

LOL I always talk to myself, sometimes other people overhear, sometimes not, but it’s all good 🙂
Nice to meet you!
Take care,

It does seem that quite a lot of us are good with talking to ourselves as well as each other! LOL

Well, I must admit the title of your blog caught my eye and I just had to drop by. My DH and I have a rotty/shepherd mix that we rescued from a shelter last year and he is one spoiled boy now! 🙂
As to talking to yourself, I do it all the time…at least you know if you’re talking to yourself that you’ve got good company! LOL.
Nice to meet you! Happy ICLW Week!

There is a Rottie/shepherd mix in Freya’s obedience class. I love that mix, they are usually wonderful dogs and so smart, I bet yours is, too!

I love this post. I have only been blogging for about 3 weeks, and it seems that my sister is my only reader. I know a loyal readership can take time though.
I must say, I have really enjoyed the traffic from ICLW.
It’s nice to know that I am not the only one that feels as though I am talking to myself. 🙂

I started, or should I say, re-started blogging for last November’s NaBloPoMo so I had at least a few readers when random people clicked on my link out of curiosity 🙂 You are right, though, it does take time to build up an audience!
