I don’t know if this April has been more or less rainy than normal, but I do know that right at this moment, there is thunder and lightning close by, and the rain is coming down quite hard. It’s been raining on and off since about an hour after I got home from work. So there better be a huge load of happy shiny May flowers on the way!
I’m guessing that the yard will be too soggy tomorrow morning to do our usual pre-trial warmup, so it’s good we got in a little practice tonight before the rain. Unfortunately, it was pretty windy, so that meant leaving out the jump and cones since ours are lightweight practice stuff that would have definitely gotten blown around.
Hoping the rain will stop soon for long enough to get the dogs out and in, and let us all get some sleep already!
I’m running out of time and energy, so let’s look in the site stats and see what search terms have brought visitors here lately:
disguise macbook as pc: Okay. Now why on earth would you want to do this? One of the most appealing aspects of most Apple products is their stylish appearance, and to disguise a MacBook just seems wrong. I say this as someone who uses both PCs and Macs, and definitely not not not as a fangrrrl.
white sox dog day 2010: Thursday, June 3, against the Texas Rangers. I wouldn’t be surprised if tickets in the “Dog Zone” are already sold out. I thought that Dog Days was usually held earlier in the season to avoid the heat, but I could be wrong. I’m not a baseball fan so I haven’t paid that much attention.
ipad rottweiler: I think this might have been Freya. It’s not enough that she hijacks my laptop whenever she can (see header graphic). No, Freya, you are not getting your own iPad. Well. Maybe, when you earn your UKC rally championship. Then you can have one. Deal?
i think my dog ate a press on nail: I’m not even sure what to say to this one, except that I hope everything came out all right. Ouch.
I finally made it over to Sports Authority this evening to pick up some cheap soccer cones to add to our rally obedience practice items. So instead of stopping at the Pet Supplies Plus in my neighborhood, I stopped at the one across the street from Sports Authority.
Apparently there really is a conspiracy to keep Freya’s and Axe’s favorite WellBites flavor out of Norwood Park! There were plenty of Chicken & Venison flavor, and in fact all five flavors, of WellBites at this store.
I’ve decided not to renew a couple of my older semi-dormant domains. So I need to move my public photo gallery sometime in the next five days.
EDITED TO ADD: I did move the gallery and the link has been updated.
Freya and I also need to get our acts together on a few Level 2 rally obedience exercises which are looking less like perfection and more like major point deductions before Sunday.
I also have a couple of web pages to set up for someone’s new canine family member before her arrival which is scheduled for tomorrow.
Just six more days and we will be back in the rally obedience ring. Freya and I didn’t trial at all in April, and I had hoped to get more serious training in during the month, but that just didn’t happen. We did get some practice time on full courses, mostly Level 2. I need to do some on-leash practice this week, since we are entered in four Level 1 runs.
We have made progress with the jump, but are not quite to the goal of full height plus me being able to do the run-by 6 feet to the right of the jump. Since we are entered in only one Level 2 run, I’m going to plan on taking the 3-point deduction for doing the run-by closer than 6 feet, and our jump practice this week will be focused on the interim goal of full height plus a run-by 2 feet to the right of the jump. As I’ve mentioned before, a 3-point deduction for being too close to the jump is still far better than the NQ we’d get for Freya running around the jump.
Other than that, this week’s training will be mainly about getting rid of any sloppiness. Continue reading
This calendar is generated from my two personal Google trial calendars. One lists all the Chicago-area APDT, UKC, and AKC Rally Obedience trials that I have information on. I don’t usually travel for trials, so this basically means the Chicago metro area, and maybe southern Wisconsin and northwest Indiana. These are listed in blue on the page. When I actually make plans to enter a trial, I move it to the second calendar, and these trials will be listed in red on the page.
I started these calendars to help me keep track of our trials, but I hope the calendar page is also useful to others in this sector who are looking for a nearby rally trial, whether to compete or just to observe.
Speaking of rally, it’s that time again for Freya’s one month of “fame” on the UKC New Title Holders page, with her URO2! And yes, of course there is a screenshot, what did you think?
