Goodbye, good boy
My brother’s dog went to the Rainbow Bridge on Monday at age 13. Starbuck was a Brittany, Jon’s first dog, constant bird hunting companion, make that constant companion, period. And clearly his “heart” dog. Starbuck’s second favorite person was Jon’s ex-wife Steph. Steph was never an ex-anything to him. They were both with Starbuck to help him to the Bridge.
For a number of reasons, some good and some not quite so good, Dan and I hadn’t seen much of our canine nephew in recent years. We’ll miss his wild ways and enthusiastic love of life.
Hug your dogs now. They are here for such a short time.

Oh, man, you really got me with this one. As if I needed more of a reason to snuggle on Miss Doggy more, you definitely gave me one.
Hope he’s running free and happy. Peace and comfort to you and your brother especially.

Well. Thanks for totally making me cry. My sympathy (anonymous internet person, yet still genuine) goes out to you, your brother and anyone who loved that pretty dog.

Thanks for making me cry! My condolences on your furry nephew. It’s so hard when you lose a pet. They love you unconditionally.
We lost a dog on Mother’s Day 2006 which was heartbreaking, and two weasels (we had ferrets) in a six month period. We have our greyhound left, and even though when he pees on my carpet I’d like to kill him, he’s still my big sweet lovebug. Makes me want to go home right now and hug him. I guess it will have to wait until I get off work, and then if there is pee on my carpet, hugs might not be top on my list, but perhaps following a few choice words first?!?!

The only bad part about sharing the love of pets is the heartbreak that they have to leave this world after too short of a stay. But the unconditional love is so worth it, isn’t it?
